The Epic Air just got better.

The Epic Air just keeps getting better and better as we get close to shipping. We’ve got some exciting updates and information to share with you – from battery life to UI improvements.

    Make calls

A key feature we wanted to highlight is the microphone built in to both earbuds. This means you can use either earbud separately to make calls, or activate Siri and Google Assistant, while you’re on the GO and briskly move through your day to day activities. The mic delivers clear, audible sound so voices won’t appear distorted and neither will yours to others; something we focused on getting right.

    Feel The Buzz

JLab introduced the Epic Air to media and industry professionals during CES and received nothing but amazing feedback. With sites letting everyone know that JLab has entered the true wireless game, we’ve been placed high amongst the competition.  We watched individuals get hooked (pun intended) on the Epic Air earbuds each time they tried them throughout the week.

    UI Improvements

To improve the controls and user interface of the Epic Air, we’re taking time to make sure the volume controls are even more intuitive. While this change will push back the production timeline, we’re still on track to start shipping in February.

     Get ready to #FINDYOURGO.

Connectivity and a strong Bluetooth signal.

Bluetooth signals have difficulty cutting through water, and since majority of our body is made of water, you can often find a poor connection in earbuds if not designed correctly. JLab designed the Epic Air to eliminate this problem. We built Bluetooth 4.1 antennas in both the right and left earhooks. This way, using Beacon Signal Technology, no matter which side of your body your device is on either earbud can hold the signal and there will be no cross-body interference. Knowing ahead of time which side of your body you plan to keep your device on, you will manually connect the right or left earbud at the time of setup. If you switch sides, reconnect to the opposite earbud.

Another improvement we made was allowing the earbud to earbud signal to travel around the back of your neck instead of also having to fight through your body. This is something no other true wireless earbud in the market does. The Epic Air will provide a clear, strong, uninterrupted listening experience. Guaranteed.

    Massive Sound.

We’ve seen other true wireless bragging about heart rate monitors, fitness tracking and data storage. But they’ve forgotten the one thing that is important: Sound.  We prioritized sound as a feature in our Epic Air True Wireless Earbuds. You can have all the features you’d like in an earbud, but if they don’t provide excellent audio, what good are they?

The Epic Air earbuds are packed with technology (battery life, controls, connectivity and fit), but we did it smartly to not diminish the tech that matters (sound).  Instead of using the limited space with heart rate sensors and other tech that is already in your phone, we used that space to host the largest sound drivers in the true wireless market at 8mm, which are 27% larger than Jabra Sport Elite*, and in a stable sound chamber. We then tuned it to ensure a balanced, yet firm sound using our signature C3™ sound curve that will excite and motivate you each time you go.

    27% larger sound driver

*The Epic Air have 8mm drivers compared to the Jabra Sport Elite's 6.5x5.1mm drivers, according to their website.

    Get your fitness on.

Headquartered here in Southern California we’re all about an active lifestyle, so we aim to design earbuds that not only enhance your life, but help you exceed your goals. The Epic Air, while great for many different uses, is going to be your all-star workout, running, biking, GO anywhere partner. With the patent-pending beacon earhook that we’ve mentioned previously, these earbuds will stay securely in your ear and ensure skip free music. Along with their inspiring design comes eight different styles of gel tips so you can find the perfect fit to secure in your ears. To top it off we added an IP55 rating making it splash-proof and sweat-proof. They’ll never fall out while you get your fitness on and will keep you powering through those sweaty workouts.

Here’s some of the activities they’ve been put to the test with:

-Working out at the gym (our head designer happens to have very big biceps)

-Sitting at the computer doing work (ok not the most athletic of endeavors but …)

-Hiking (San Diego has some great spots)

-Running (even when its getting to our ‘winter’ temps of below 60 degrees)

-Yoga (and below is a photo to prove it)

    A seriously awesome case.

Have you ever been somewhere and your Bluetooth earbuds died? Or maybe your phone is on low battery and you know your music is about to shut down right in the middle of your workout? What do you do if you don’t have any source of power? Well we solved that problem for you.

Our innovative Epic Air case allows your earbuds to charge while being protected and can provide charge out power to your other devices. While the earbuds hold six hours of a playtime, the case can provide an additional 30 hours of charge. The case will automatically turn off your earbuds once placed inside and will begin charging. Lights on the case also indicate how much power is left for your convenience. Compact, protective, and efficient…you can thank us later.

The most versatile case you’ve ever seen:

-Charge your earbuds (up to 5 times)-Charge out to your Bluetooth speaker (Any Crasher Series speaker or others) -Charge your mobile phone (comes with a universal micro USB or use your own iPhone lightning charger)

    The Epic Air IPX Rating.

People use their earbuds in a variety of ways so it’s important to us to provide you with a pair that can hold up against a variety of splashes and sweat. The Epic Air prototypes have proven a IPX5 water resistant rating, and are currently testing for higher protection. Their IPX5 rating does not mean they are 100% waterproof, but rather “splashproof”. This means you can get stuck in the rain, have sweaty workouts, and rinse them off at the end of the day. Can’t go wrong with that, right? So go run a marathon or get caught sprinklers because the Epic Air will handle all of your daily outings.

    Constant Improvement. Volume Controls!

While we were working furiously to give you updates on the Epic Air, our product team had already improved the touch controls. Our last update incorrectly stated that volume control would have to come from the device or phone – but we had recently upgraded the latest prototype to have touch volume controls from the earbuds! So you’ll be able to adjust volume on the run (literally):

    Epic Air Controls:

    Track Forward & Track Backward

    Play & Pause

    Power On & Off

    Microphone for Calls

    Volume Up/Down

    Activate Siri/Google Assistant

    About our wireless touch control.

When designing the Epic Air, we wanted to make the efficiency of controlling your music as easy as possible, so we incorporated touch controls on the outside of the earbud. With just a tap or two to either earbud you’ll be able switch up your tunes, easy as 1 2 3 (or just 1, 2). For simple, uncomplicated controlling, you’ll be able to track forward and track backward and play or pause. To power on and off, you’ll press and hold a button on the inside of the earbud for three seconds.

    Epic Air Controls:

-Track Forward & Track Backward -Play & Pause -Answer/Hang-up -Power On & Off -Microphone for Calls -Volume Up/Down

As if the controls couldn’t get any better, we added a mic to each side so you can take calls without interrupting your task or exercise at hand. Just tap once to answer and hang up and you’re ready to go!

JLab is in the true wireless game

    Dear Friends,

For years JLab Audio has been working on the Epic Air, and while we’ve launched the Epic Bluetooth Wireless Earbuds and continued to receive praise for those headphones, we have still been innovating in the true wireless space. With the removal of the iPhone7 headphone jack, we’ll see the evolution of headphones to wireless connectivity (no plug-in necessary). And we're 100% ready to go wireless too.

    Epic Air and charging case

With the launch of the Apple AirPods later this month along with others, we want to make sure you’re in the know. Our designers have been hard at work building the perfect earbud that you won’t lose, won’t fall out of your ear, won’t run out of battery quickly, and will deliver amazing sound and performance. And is truly wireless (no connecting wires at all!).

With all due respect to Beats most recent Got No Strings commercial and recent products announced (BeatsX, PowerBeats3 and Beats Solo3), we view no strings a little different.  Like … none at all.

So meet the patent-pending Epic Air, a refreshing innovation of true wireless earbuds designed with fitness in mind – that will blow away the competition in battery life, connectivity, secure fit, comfort and more.

After we dominated battery life in the wireless sport earbud category with our Epic2 earbuds, JLab’s Epic Air features a seven hour battery life – the best in the true wireless earbud market – and are paired with the most robust charging solution to date. The included charging case can pump out 30 more hours of listening time – beating anything in the category with time to spare. That’s 37 hours’ total, 35% more than the Apple AirPods*.

    Patent-Pending Antenna Earhook

We focused on creating a secure, uninterrupted Bluetooth connection. While other true wireless products struggle with the cross-body connection and have consistent cut-out issues**, JLab’s first-ever antenna earhook is designed with the Bluetooth antenna in both the right and left side to ensure the strongest connection yet. The earbud to earbud connection finds its way around the back of your neck avoiding any interferences, which no other true wireless earbud does. Using Bluetooth 4.1 with aptX Technology in the earhook design, creates a clear music streaming quality. With Beacon™ Signal Technology built in both antennas, your device can connect to either earbud. This provides unsurpassed connectivity and reduces environmental detuning. Make calls. Listen to music. Do work. All from up to 30 feet away. It’s wireless sound at its best.

    Patent-pending Antenae Earhook

    Portable Power

The included charging case is the perfect portable, universal charger– not just to keep your Epic Air going for 30 hours, but also for charging your device. Use the included cord to charge your Android or use your iPhone charger to plug-in. The lights indicate how much power is remaining so you’ll know when to recharge the case as well.

    Revolutionary Fit

Our proprietary earhook combined with eight sets of gel-tips, including a triple flange custom fit tip and a unique shallow-fit tip, allow the earbud to customize to anyone’s fit. JLab offers more fit options than nearly any other true wireless earbud and the additional safeguard from the earhook creates our revolutionary fit and feel.

The Epic Air feature an IP55 sweatproof rating allowing you to put them through even the sweatiest of workouts. If you get caught in the rain, that’s okay too. After all their outings, you can give them a quick rinse off and get to going again

    Touch & Tap Controls

With just a tap or two to either earbud you’ll be able switch up your tunes, easy as 1 2 3. For simple, uncomplicated controlling, you'll be able to track forward, track backward, play, pause or adjust volume. Volume can also be controlled via your device. To power on press and hold the button on the inside of the earbud. To power off press and hold the same button or place the earbuds back in the case and they will automatically turn off.  Simple.

    Make Calls

We thought you might be busy. So, we put a microphone in both the right and left earbud allowing you to take calls at the drop of a hat or activate Siri or Google Assistant. With the microphone built in to both, you can use either earbud separately or together. When used together, whichever earbud is holding the Bluetooth connection will be the earbud with an active microphone. You’ll never worry about missing that important phone call.

    Massive Sound

The Epic Air earbuds are packed with technology that matters, creating the best sound. Instead of packing the limited space with unused tech (heartrate, fitness tracking, etc), we used it to host large 8mm drivers, 27% larger than Jabra Sport Elite*, and a balanced sound chamber. We then tuned it to ensure the best C3™ sound that will excite and motivate you each time you go.
